(A dedication to Mya-Moe Ukulele Company and the good folks of Hood River, OR)
Twas’ way up in White Salmon
Where the mighty Columbia River flows
An America in all her glory
Shines like Klondike Gold
We went to the old Hood River Hotel
Twas on a Monday night
The beer it was a flowing
And the food a welcome sight
The old time musicians were a gathering
A night of red, white and blue
And wasn’t it a time boys
When the ukuleles chimed in too
As the fire place was a roaring
And we all drank our fill
The Hapa Hillbillies kept the train a moving
And to live boys! What a thrill!
Now some towns are known for their history
Others industry and crafts
But Hood River boys is special
If I tell you, it might make you laugh!
It’s high up on the rivers bluff
In a little woodshop so divine
There husband and wife ply their trade
With heart, soul and mind
Now they say if you build it…
The salmon will start to run
And as one who was born to play em’
Mya Moe’s time has come!
