- This is why we build ukuleles
Nov 22, 2011
Got this email this morning from a person that recently received their instrument:
“Good Mornin!
I just listened to your interview with Fretboard Journal. ( gotta look for that! ) , and I loved it! It was great! So informative, as your website is all the time. I felt like I was right in the room with you guys!
I love this instrument you built for me. Couldn't be happier. It just gets sweeter every time I hear it, and so easy and comfortable to play. I'm finding myself playing guitar less and less all the time. It just doesn't satisfy me any more, but I've also noticed that playing the uke is making me a better guitar player. With your instrument, I've learned to play with a much lighter touch, which makes me faster and not using as much pressure doesn't irritate this arthritis that's after me near as much. I'm playing longer all the time and more often all the time.
I'm sure I've told ya before, but I'm very thankful to have discovered Mya Moe' and very happy and satisfied that I made the investment. It's been great for me and gettin better all the time. I love that so many good artists are playing your ukes, And very happy that anybody can get one of your instruments. Thanks again and again!
Happy Thanksgiving!! # 501. I love puttin the number in there!”
Well, this just perfectly sums up our motivation--making instruments for appreciative players. To all of our owners (and soon to-be owners), we are thankful for you this Thanksgiving.

- Unbelievable Story of the Ukulele Community
Nov 13, 2011
Two days before the completion of a custom instrument, we got an email from the prospective owner asking to cancel the order. He had lost his job due to a long-term illness. We refunded his deposit immediately, and then put the instrument up for sale with an explanation of why it was available. It sold in 2 hours.
But, one of our owners saw the Facebook post and said he’d contribute $100 towards purchasing another Mya-Moe for the person. We had already gone to bed when this happened, and by the time we got up and saw this, there was $250 committed. Of course we agreed to this plan, and said that if the “group” raised $800, we’d build the ukulele. Well, that occurred within the next day.
We just wrote to the customer, and received this response...
“Unbelievable, i'm speechless.....Cant stop crying! Overwhelmed”
Ukulele Lovers....beautiful people
What a beautiful story
Thanks to all! I will never forget .....”
And, it is a story that Char, Aaron and I will never forget either.

We were introduced to Don by the Mumford boys after they played with him at this year’s Grammy’s. Don plays guitar for Bob Dylan. The tenor 6-string was the perfect ukulele for him. You can visit his artist page here.
